Turkey Supper Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 1 (15 oz.) can extra long asparagus or 12 fresh stalks
  • 5 large turkey slices
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 5 slices French bread
  • 1 (2 oz.) jar sliced mushrooms
  • 1 (2 1/2 oz.) pkg. dried beef
  • 1/4 tsp. Worcestershire

Directions

    Place asparagus with its own liquid in pan.

    Place turkey on top of asparagus.

    Heat to serving temperature.

    Melt butter in another pan, blend in flour and gradually stir in milk.

    Cook on medium heat until thickened, stirring to keep smooth.

    Add cheese and stir until melted.

    Add mushrooms (drained), shredded beef, Worcestershire sauce and pepper to taste.

    Toast bread.

    Place turkey slice on each bread slice.

    Cover with drained asparagus and spoon sauce over sandwiches.
