Turnip Mash

- 3 large or 5 medium sized turnips, peeled and cut into bite size chunks
- 3 1/2 cups milk
- a few sprigs of fresh thyme
- 2 cloves of garlic, peeled and crushed
- 1 stick unsalted butter
Directions

1in a medium saucepot, add the turnips, milk, thyme, and garlic and cook over medium high heat until simmering. simmer 20 - 30 minutes until the turnips are softened.

2remove the thyme and drain the liquid, reserving it.

3mash turnips with a potato masher. add the butter and about 1/2 cup of the cooking liquid and mash. season with salt & pepper and add more cooking liquid until the mash is to a consistency you like.
