- 1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels
- 2/3 c. evaporated milk
- 1 box German chocolate cake mix
- 3/4 c. softened margarine
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 12 oz. semi-sweet chocolate bits
Directions

1Unwrap caramels and add 1/3 cup of evaporated milk in a double boiler.

2Stir mixture until melted.

3Combine cake mix, remaining milk and softened margarine.

4Blend until mixture holds together. Stir in nuts.

5Press 1/2 of the cake mix into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.

6Bake 6 minutes at 350°.

7Remove pan from oven.

8Sprinkle chocolate pieces on top.

9Pour melted caramels over top evenly. Crumble remaining mixture over caramel mixture and bake at 350° for 15 to 20 minutes.

10Cool completely and cut into bars.

11Garnish top with a few chocolate bits and nuts.
