- 1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels
- 1/2 c. evaporated milk
- 1 (2 layer) pkg. German chocolate cake mix
- 1 1/3 c. water
- 3 eggs
- 3/4 c. soft butter
- 1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
- 1 c. chopped pecans
Directions

1Melt caramels with evaporated milk in microwave.

2Combine cake mix, water, butter and eggs.

3Blend on low speed for 2 minutes. Pour half the batter into greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake at 350° for 10 minutes or until cake puffs up and is gooey. Pour melted caramels over partially baked layer to within 1/2-inch of edges.

4Sprinkle chips and pecans over caramels.

5Pour remaining batter over all and bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes or until top springs back when touched (may take 40 minutes).

6Cool in pan.

7Cut in squares.

8Ice, if desired (creamy fudge).
