- 1 (18 1/2 oz.) pkg. yellow cake mix
- 3/4 c. butter or margarine, melted
- 2 eggs
- 1 c. (6 oz. pkg.) semi-sweet chocolate pieces
- 1 c. flake coconut
- 1/4 c. water
- 1/2 to 1 tsp. almond extract
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350°.

2Generously grease and lightly flour bottom and sides of a 13 x 9-inch baking dish.

3In large mixing bowl, combine dry cake mix, butter and eggs by hand; stir well.

4In medium saucepan, over low heat, melt chocolate pieces.

5Remove from heat.

6Stir in 2/3 of the batter and spread into prepared pan.

7To remaining batter, add coconut, water and extract.

8Spread over mixture in pan.

9Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes, until golden brown.

10Cool; cut into bars.

11Yields 3 dozen bars.
