- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1/2 head cabbage, chopped
- 1/2 c. water
- 2 cans stewed tomatoes
- 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp. vinegar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 small can sauerkraut (optional)
Directions

1Saute onion in a little oil or margarine.

2Add ground beef, brown well and drain.

3Add chopped cabbage and water.

4Simmer until cabbage is tender.

5Add tomatoes and remaining ingredients. Simmer until well heated, stirring once or twice.

6Other spices, such as oregano and basil, may be added.

7Serve over rice.
