Unstuffed Cabbage

  • 2 lb 93% lean ground beef
  • 28 oz can of crushed tomatoes and 2 cans stewed tomatoes, 14 ounces each
  • 1 large onion thinly sliced
  • 4 clove of garlic thinly sliced
  • 1 medium head of cabbage, shredded
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp caraway seeds
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tbsp salt
  • 1/2 tbsp pepper
  • 1/2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 4 cup already prepared rice, white or brown , ( hot)

Directions

    In large stock pot or dutch oven, add any oil you like to saute beef with onion and garlic until beef in no longer pink.

    Add in crushed and stewed tomatoes, salt ,pepper, brown sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire and caraway seeds to beef.

    Simmer covered for half an hour, then add cabbage.

    Stir and cover to simmer until cabbage is wilted about 10 -15 minutes.

    Serve in large bowl over hot rice.
