Ingredients
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp. plus 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 2/3 c. milk
- 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine, melted
- 1/4 c. sugar or brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp. ground cinnamon
Directions

1Combine first 5 ingredients.

2Cut in shortening with pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal.

3Add milk, stirring until dry ingredients are moistened.

4Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead lightly 4 or 5 times.

5Roll dough to a 20 x 10-inch rectangle 1/4-inch thick.

6Brush on melted butter. Combine 1/4 cup sugar and cinnamon.

7Sprinkle over dough.

8Cut lengthwise into five 2-inch strips.

9Stack strips, cinnamon side up, on top of each other.

10Cut stacks into 2-inch sections.

11Place each stacked section, cut side down, into lightly greased muffin pans.

12Bake at 425° for 12 minutes or until lightly brown.

13Yields 10 to 12 biscuits.
