Ingredients

  • 100 grams margarine
  • 75 grams caster sugar (or granulated)
  • 1 tbsp golden syrup
  • 2 medium eggs
  • 150 grams self raising flour
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 50 grams walnuts (whole ones for top)

Directions

    cream margerine, sugar and syrup until light and creamy

    beat in the eggs with a little flour

    gradually add remaining flour, milk and nuts.

    place mixture into greased and floured 18 cm cake tin

    bake in a moderate oven 180C, 350F for about 1 hour
