  • 4 c. sugar
  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. chopped pecans
  • 1/2 stick butter

Directions

    Combine sugar and milk in 3-quart saucepan.

    Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until mixture forms soft ball when dropped into cold water or 236° on candy thermometer.

    Add vanilla, pecans and butter.

    Place pan in cold water in sink; stir constantly until mixture thickens and loses its shiny appearance. Pour into buttered pan; cut when cool.
