- 13 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 18 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups milk, whole
- 2 egg yolks, slightly beaten
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Directions

1In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch, and salt.

2Gradually stir in milk.

3Cook over medium heat until mixture boils and thickens, stirring constantly.

4Boil one minute.

5In small bowl, blend about 1/3 of hot mixture into egg yolks.

6Return yolk mixture to hot mixture; blend well.

7Cook until mixture bubbles, stirring constantly.

8Remove from heat; add butter and vanilla.

9Cool slightly before serving.

10Store in refrigerator.
