Vegetarian Cabbage Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 c. short grain brown rice (cook before using)
  • 1 medium cabbage (loose leaves)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1/4 c. parsley, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. sesame seed
  • 1/2 stick margarine/butter
  • 2 cans tomato sauce
  • 1 can water
  • 1 (1 lb.) can whole tomatoes, crushed
  • 8 oz. can sauerkraut
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1/3 c. raisins
  • 3/4 c. Nature's Burgers (prepare according to pkg.)

    Core and steam cabbage.

    Saute onion in butter, add parsley, garlic and mixed Nature's Burger.

    Add cooked brown rice and mix well.

    Remove from saute pan.

    Drain steamed cabbage and cool. Mix tomato sauce, tomatoes, water, brown sugar, salt and pepper, if desired.

    Make cabbage rolls with steamed cabbage, rice and burger mix.

    Cut remaining cabbage up and place in bottom of pot with a little of tomato sauce mix to moisten.

    Layer cabbage rolls with tomato mix, sauerkraut and raisins until finished.

    Cook in large pot until well cooked, about 45 minutes.
