Venison Chili

  • cooking oil
  • 2 lb. ground venison or 1 lb. venison and 1 lb. lean ground chuck
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 1 (16 oz.) can or more tomatoes (undrained)
  • 1 c. water
  • 3/4 c. red wine
  • 2 or 3 diced green chilies
  • 2 or 3 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 3 or more Tbsp. chili powder
  • 3/4 tsp. oregano
  • 1/2 tsp. cumin

Directions

    Cook venison and onions over medium heat in a little oil in a large pot until brown, stirring frequently.

    Stir in remaining ingredients.

    Reduce heat; simmer at least 1 hour.

    Stir occasionally.
