- 4 1/4 c. sifted flour
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. melted butter
- 1 c. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- cooking oil
- sugar
Directions

1Sift together dry ingredients.

2Beat together eggs.

3Add 1 cup sugar until light.

4Add butter, milk and vanilla.

5Add dry ingredients all at once, stirring just until smooth.

6(Dough is very soft.)

7Knead dough lightly on floured surface.

8Roll out dough 3/8-inch thick.

9Cut with floured doughnut cutter.

10Fry doughnuts in hot cooking oil (370°) until golden brown, turning once.

11Drain on paper towels.

12Roll doughnuts in sugar.

13Makes 2 dozen.
