  • 1 egg plus 2 egg yolks (save whites for frosting)
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. Vermont maple syrup
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 3/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 c. nuts
  • 1/2 c. milk

    Beat eggs.

    Add shortening, sugar, maple syrup and vanilla; beat well.

    Add flour, salt and baking powder alternately with milk.

    Add nuts.

    Pour into greased and floured 7 x 10-inch baking pan.

    Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
