Volie'S Cabbage Rolls

Ingredients

  • 2 lb. lean hamburger meat
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 to 4 large pods garlic, crushed
  • 1 c. raw instant rice
  • 1 can tomatoes, crushed and drained
  • salt and crushed pepper to taste
  • 1 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 qt. can tomato juice
  • 1 extra large head cabbage

    Mix the first 7 ingredients together in a bowl and prepare the cabbage leaves.

    Wilt the cabbage leaves.

    Place some of the meat mixture in each leaf and roll up.

    Secure with a toothpick.

    Put into a large Dutch oven.

    Pour the tomato juice over the rolls. Add chili powder.

    Boil gently for 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
