  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 6 Tbsp. melted shortening or oil
  • 1 c. cold water
  • 3 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. vinegar

Directions

    Sift flour, cocoa, sugar, soda and salt together in a bowl. Add shortening or oil, water and vinegar; mix well.

    Pour into greased 8 x 8-inch baking pan.

    Bake for 25 minutes at 350°.

    This is a very soft cake, best frosted in the baking pan.

    Use any frosting, or top with whipped cream.
