  • 2 eggs
  • 1 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. vinegar
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 oz. red food coloring
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • butter frosting for top

Directions

    Cream Crisco, sugar and eggs.

    Add food coloring and cocoa. Sift flour and salt. Mix all with buttermilk, vanilla and baking soda mixed with vinegar.

    Bake for 30 minutes at 350°.

    Split layers and frost with butter frosting with almond flavoring added.
