- 1 cup oats
- 1 cup spelt, flakes
- 1 cup barley
- 1 cup triticale, flakes
- 1 cup wheat berries
- 2 cups california walnuts, roughly chopped
- 1 cup dried apricot, chopped
- 1 cup dried dates, chopped
Directions

1Combine oats, spelt flakes, barley flakes, triticale flakes, wheat berries and California walnuts on a large rimmed baking sheet.

2Bake in the centre of a 325F (160C) oven, stirring often, until grains and California walnuts are fragrant and golden, about 5 to 7 minutes.

3Remove from oven and let cool completely.

4In large airtight container, combine cooled grains with California walnuts, apricots and dates.

5Store in an airtight container for up to one month.

6Makes about 8 cups (2 L).

7Serving suggestion:.

8Place 1/2 cup (125 mL) of the cereal mixture into a bowl.

9Cover completely with milk and place in the fridge for 30 minutes or up to one day (make the night before) and it will be perfect in the morning.

11Warm in microwave if desired or serve cold.

12Add shredded apple, fresh berries or sliced banana.

13Drizzle with a little maple syrup or honey and stir to combine.

14Tip: All the grains can be found at bulk and health food stores.
