Walnut Cherry Cake

- 1 c. walnuts, chopped
- 1 (2-layer size) pkg. white cake mix
- 6 drops red food coloring
- 1 (8 oz.) Cool Whip
- 1 (1 lb. 5 oz.) can cherry pie filling
Directions

1Prepare cake as directed on package, adding vanilla and 3/4 cup medium chopped walnuts.

2Bake in two 9-inch layer pans.

3Cool 10 minutes.

4Invert out onto wire racks until cool.

5Fold food coloring into topping on outer edge of each layer.

6Spoon pie filling in center of each.

7Stack layers on serving plate.

8Spread remaining topping on sides of cake.

9Sprinkle 1/4 cup coarsely chopped walnuts on top of cake.

10Chill.
