Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour or 1/2 c. instant type flour
  • 1/4 tsp. double-acting baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. soft butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c. granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 envelopes (1 1/2 oz.) no-melt or premelted unsweetened chocolate
  • 2 c. coarsely broken walnuts

    Preheat oven to 350°.

    Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.

    In a bowl, with electric mixer at medium speed, beat butter with sugar until creamy.

    Next, beat in egg, vanilla, then chocolate, then flour mixture.

    Fold in walnuts.

    Drop mixture by heaping teaspoonfuls 1-inch apart onto greased cookie sheets.

    Bake just 10 minutes, no longer.

    Cool.

    Store in container with loose fitting cover.
