Walnut Dressing Balls

  • 10 c. white bread cubes (about 15 slices), 3 days old
  • 1 1/3 c. chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. poultry seasoning
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1 c. finely chopped celery
  • 1 c. chopped parsley
  • 1/3 c. finely chopped onion
  • 1 c. margarine or butter
  • 1/2 c. water or more

Directions

    Cut or tear bread into 1/2-inch cubes or crumbs.

    Toss with walnuts, seasonings, celery and parsley.

    Saute onion in margarine. Add to crumb mixture. Add just enough water to moisten so mixture will hold together when pressed in hands.

    Firmly press into 2-inch balls and place on oiled baking sheet. Bake at 375° for 20 to 25 minutes until crisp and brown.

    Makes about 24 dressing balls.
