Walnut Honey Bread

  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 c. honey
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. walnuts, broken
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 egg yolks

Directions

    Preheat oven to 325°.

    Butter and flour a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan. In a large saucepan, heat milk and add honey and sugar, stirring until sugar is melted and homogeneous, then cool.

    Mix in butter and egg yolks.

    Sift together flour, salt and soda then mix in thoroughly.

    Stir in walnuts.

    Pour into pan and let stand 20 minutes.

    Bake about an hour or until knife comes out clean.

    Cool in pan 10 minutes and turn out on rack to cool thoroughly. Wrap well and store.
