Ingredients

  • 1/3 c. brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. ginger
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp. cloves
  • 1 c. dry sherry
  • 1 qt. ale or strong dark beer
  • 1/3 c. cognac (optional)
  • 1 (18 oz.) jar crab apples, drained

Directions

    In a large saucepan, heat sugar, spices, sherry and ale.

    If desired, add cognac just before removing from heat.

    Pour over crab apples in serving bowl.

    Makes ten 1/2 cup servings.
