Ingredients
- 3 c. flour
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 c. currants
- 2 eggs
- 6 Tbsp. milk
Directions

1Stir dry ingredients.

2Cut in shortening, then currants.

3Beat eggs and milk; add to flour-fruit mixture.

4Mix well.

5Chill 1 to 2 hours.

6Divide dough in thirds.

7Roll out each 1/4-inch thick on floured board.

8Cut into round cookies.

9Heat griddle slowly. Grease lightly before each baking.

10Bake cookies slow until top puffs and turns shiny.

11Turn and bake other side until golden. Cool.

12Store in a tight container.
