- 3 1/2 c. flour
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. Crisco
- 3/4 to 1 c. currants
- 2 eggs, beaten
- not quite 1/2 c. milk
Directions

1Combine dry ingredients.

2Cut shortening into mixture as for pie dough.

3Add currants and mix.

4Add beaten eggs and milk and mix thoroughly.

5Roll out on floured cloth until 1/4 inch thickness and cut with rounded glass or cookie cutter dipped in flour.

6Fry in Teflon or ungreased griddle until golden brown on both sides.

7When cool, sprinkle with powdered sugar.

8Store in tight container.
