- 1/4 c. margarine or butter
- 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1/4 tsp. dry mustard
- 1/4 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 c. milk
- 1/2 c. beer or medium white wine
- 2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese (about 8 oz.)
- 4 to 6 slices toast
Directions

1Heat margarine in saucepan over low heat until melted.

2Blend in flour, salt, pepper, mustard and Worcestershire sauce.

3Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is smooth and bubbly.

4Remove from heat; stir in milk.

5Heat to boiling, stirring constantly.

6Boil and stir 1 minute.

7Add beer gradually.

8Stir in cheese.

9Heat over low heat, stirring constantly, until cheese is melted.

10Serve over toast.

11Sprinkle with paprika, if desired.
