- 2 c. raisins
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 3 eggs
- 3 1/2 c. flour
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. allspice
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
Directions

1Cover raisins with water and boil for 10 minutes.

2Drain, reserving 1 cup of liquid and return to boiled raisins.

3Add the shortening and set aside to cool.

4When cool, add eggs.

5Sift dry ingredients and add to raisin mixture.

6Pour into 2 greased loaf pans and bake for 1 hour.

7Turn out on rack to cool.

8Can cut 20 to 22 slices.

9Serve buttered.
