- 5 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
- 1 c. milk
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. margarine (2 sticks)
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Cook the flour and milk in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly, until very thick.

2Be careful not to let the mixture scorch.

3Cool completely.

4Cream sugar, margarine, shortening and vanilla until fluffy.

5Add the flour mixture and continue beating until consistency of whipped cream.

6Clean bowl and beaters often to be sure sugar is dissolved.

7Mixture should be smooth, with no grainy taste of sugar.

8Makes about 3 cups.

9May be used as a filling or frosting.
