  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. warm milk or potato water or cream
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. warm shortening (if not using cream)
  • 5 to 7 c. flour

Directions

    Mix ingredients in order given, gradually adding flour until dough is not sticky.

    Knead 10 minutes.

    Let dough rest 20 minutes; shape into a ball.

    Let rise 1 hour.

    Shape into rolls or bread loaves.

    Let rise.

    Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
