- 2 pkg. yeast
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 2/3 c. Crisco
- 2 c. scalded milk
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1 egg, beaten
- 7 to 9 c. flour
Directions

1Scald milk; add Crisco, sugar and salt.

2Cool to lukewarm. Dissolve yeast in warm water in large bowl.

3Add milk mixture and egg; add enough flour to make soft dough.

4Beat with mixer until dough looks elastic.

5By hand, add enough flour to make stiff dough.

6Knead until smooth.

7Put in greased bowl; turn and grease top.

8With kitchen fork, punch 8 holes in the dough.

9Cover and let rise until doubled, about 2 hours.

10Shape dough into 3 loaves. Brush tops with melted butter.

11Cover and let rise until doubled. Bake at 350° for about 30 minutes.
