- 1 c milk
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 1/2 tsp. salt
- 6 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1 c. warm water
- 6 c. flour
Directions

1Scald 1 cup milk then stir in sugar, salt, and shortening. Dissolve yeast in water.

2Cool mixture of milk.

3Blend with yeast and add 3 cups flour.

4Beat until smooth, stir in remaining flour. Turn out on lightly floured board.

5Knead until smooth and elastic.

6Place in greased bowl, brush with shortening.

7Cover, let rise in warm, draft free place until doubled in bulk (approximately 2 hours).

8Punch and turn out again onto board. Divide in half.

9Let rest 15 to 20 minutes.

10Shape and place in greased bread pan.

11Let rise again approximately 1 hour.

12Bake at 400° for 50 minutes.

13To sweeten, add raisins to original dough recipe.
