- 1 c. milk
- 6 Tbsp. sugar
- 4 tsp. salt
- 6 Tbsp. margarine or Crisco
- 3 c. warm water
- 2 pkg. or cakes yeast (active dry or compressed)
- 11 c. flour (about)
Directions

1Scald milk; stir in sugar, salt and margarine.

2Cool to lukewarm.

3Measure warm water into a large bowl.

4Sprinkle or crumble in yeast; stir until dissolved.

5Add lukewarm milk mixture and 3 cups flour; beat until smooth.

6Add enough additional flour to make a soft dough.

7Turn out onto lightly floured board.

8Knead until smooth and elastic.

9Form into a smooth ball.

10Place in a greased bowl turning to grease top.

11Cover; let rise in a warm place free from draft, until doubled in bulk, about 1 hour.
