- 2 c. self-rising flour
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 2/3 to 3/4 c. milk or buttermilk
Directions

1Preheat oven to 500°.

2Measure flour into bowl.

3Cut in shortening until like coarse crumbs.

4Blend in just enough milk with fork until dough leaves sides of bowl.

5Knead gently on lightly floured surface 10 to 20 strokes.

6Roll dough about 1/2-inch thick.

7Cut.

8Bake on ungreased cookie sheet 1-inch apart for crusty biscuits or almost touching for soft sides.

9Bake at 500° for 8 to 10 minutes.

10Makes 12 biscuits.
