- 1 c. granulated sugar
- 1/4 c. light corn syrup
- 1 Tbsp. vinegar
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- butter
- 1/3 c. water
Directions

1Combine sugar, 1/3 cup water and corn syrup in a heavy saucepan.

2Stir over low heat until sugar dissolves.

3Cook without stirring to light crack stage (270°).
-
4Remove from heat; add vinegar and baking soda and mix thoroughly.

5Pour on buttered platter to cool.
-
6Butter hands, then pull taffy until it is snow white and porous.

7When candy is too hard to pull, twist into a rope of desired thickness.

8Cool and break into 1 1/2-inch pieces. Yield:

92 dozen pieces of candy.
