Ingredients
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 c. very warm water
- 2 1/4 tsp. yeast
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/4 c. butter, melted
- 4 c. all-purpose flour, high gluten
- 4 c. whole wheat flour
- 1/2 c. sugar or honey
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 1/2 c. warm water
Directions

1In a small bowl, mix and dissolve first three ingredients. Set aside ten minutes.

2Beat egg in small bowl with a fork, set aside.

3Melt butter in microwave.

4Set aside.

5In large mixing bowl, combine flours, sugar, and salt.

6Add yeast, egg, butter, and warm water.

7Begin combining and continue to knead all for ten minutes.

8Fold, press, turn, adding small amounts of flour as needed.

9Return to large bowl.

10Cover with towel, and let rise at room temperature (75-80°) for 2 hours.

11Punch down, knead a little.

12Grease 4 pans.

13Shape dough into 4 pans.

14Cover, let rise 1 1/2 hour.

15Bake at 375° (to 400°) from a cold oven 15 minutes. Watch closely.

16Bread will slightly brown on top.
