Ingredients

  • 1 c. white hominy grits
  • 5 c. boiling water
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. Parmesan cheese
  • black pepper
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 Tbsp. milk
  • 1/2 c. Italian flavored bread crumbs
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. onion flakes

Directions

    Add grits to boiling salted water.

    Reduce heat and simmer 25 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cool 30 minutes.

    Add baking powder, 3/4 cup cheese, onion and pepper.

    Mix well. Combine eggs and milk.

    Add to cooked grits.

    Pour mixture into well-greased 2-quart baking dish. Top with bread crumbs and remaining cheese. Dot with butter.

    Bake at 350° for 25 minutes or until browned on top.
