- 1 small onion, chopped
- 4 Tbsp. butter
- 1 1/2 c. dry unseasoned bread cubes
- 1/2 c. light brown sugar
- 5 c. (2 1/2 lb.) canned tomatoes
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350°.

2Grease shallow casserole.

3Saute onion in butter until soft, not brown.

4Add bread cubes and brown sugar, stirring over low heat for 3 to 5 minutes.

5Stir in tomatoes and season to taste.

6Pour into prepared casserole and bake 30 to 40 minutes or until bubbly.
