- 6 egg yolks
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/3 c. cold water
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. lemon extract
- 1 tsp. grated lemon peel (if desired)
- 6 egg whites
- 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
Directions

1Heat oven to 325°.

2In small bowl, beat eggs yolks until very thick.

3Pour yolks into large mixer bowl.

4Gradually beat in sugar. On low speed, mix in flour, baking powder and salt alternately with water, flavorings and lemon peel.

5In another bowl, beat egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff.

6Gradually fold egg yolk mixture into egg whites.

7Pour into greased tube pan.
-
8Bake 60 to 65 minutes.

9Invert pan on funnel.
-
10Let hang until cake is completely cool.
