  • 1 1/2 lb. red onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 c. vegetable oil
  • 1/2 c. white vinegar
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 3 or 4 Tabasco sauce

    Put onions in a ceramic or glass bowl.

    Bring other ingredients to a boil.

    Pour over onions and let stand.

    When cool, refrigerate overnight.

    These keep well in a tightly closed container.
