  • 1 (14 oz.) can whole peeled tomatoes, drained and chopped (reserve juice)
  • 4 medium potatoes, diced
  • 4 large carrots, diced
  • 2 each green and red peppers, cut into 1/4-inch pieces
  • 3 Tbsp. butter or margarine, melted
  • 1 1/2 c. chopped onions
  • 1 Tbsp. chopped garlic
  • 1 lb. top round of beef, cut into 1/4-inch cubes
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 2 Tbsp. paprika
  • 3 Tbsp. tomato paste
  • 4 (13 1/2 oz.) cans tomatoes and juice
  • beef broth plus water to equal 2 qt.
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 tsp. marjoram
  • 1/2 tsp. caraway seed, crushed
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 c. sour cream
