  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup margarine, melted
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten

Directions

    Combine first 5 ingredients in a large bowl; make a well in center of mixture. Combine milk, margarine, and eggs; add to dry ingredients, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened.

    Pour batter into a greased 8-inch square pan. Bake at 400° for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden. Cut into squares.
