- 5 c. plain flour
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. Crisco shortening
- 2 pkg. yeast, melt in warm water
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Sift dry ingredients.

2Cut in shortening.

3Dissolve yeast in warm water.

4Add buttermilk and yeast to dry mixture.

5Mix well. Let stand a few hours or overnight if you like.

6Turn out on board.

7Roll to 1/2 inch thickness.

8Cut.

9Dip in butter.

10Bake at 400°.
