Ingredients
- 5 or 6 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/4 c. sugar plus 1 Tbsp.
- 1 c. shortening
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 2 1/2 c. or more buttermilk
- 2 or 3 Tbsp. warm water
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
Directions

1Sift dry ingredients together.

2Cut in shortening.

3Dissolve the yeast in the warm water with the tablespoon of sugar added first.

4Let set to foam.

5Add buttermilk and yeast mixture to dry ingredients; mix well.

6Put on floured board.

7Add more flour, if needed, to handle good.

8Roll out, cut and then dip in melted margarine.

9Let rise.

10Bake at 350° for 15 minutes or until done. (Different ovens vary in temperature.)
