- 1 pkg. yeast
- 2 Tbsp. warm water
- 4 Tbsp. sugar
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 c. shortening
- 5 c. flour
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water.

2Sift all dry ingredients together in large bowl.

3Cut in shortening.

4Mix buttermilk and dissolved yeast.

5Add buttermilk and yeast to flour mixture.

6Stir until flour is damp.

7Knead on floured board 2 to 3 minutes.

8Store in refrigerator in covered bowl.

9Roll out like biscuits.

10Bake at 400°; do not let rise.

11Makes 3 to 4 dozen.
