- 2 pkg. yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 1 1/2 c. scalded buttermilk
- 1/2 c. melted shortening
- 1/4 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 4 1/2 c. flour
Directions

1Scald milk.

2Dissolve yeast in warm water.

3Add milk which has been cooled to lukewarm. Add sugar, shortening and salt.

4Add flour and soda which have been sifted together.

5Mix well and let stand in bowl 10 minutes.

6Place dough in greased pan and allow to rise 30 minutes. Roll out and cut into biscuits.

7Brush with butter.

8Bake in hot oven 450° for 10 to 12 minutes.

9Makes 24 biscuits.
