  • 5 c. self-rising flour
  • 1 c. Crisco
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 2 c. buttermilk
  • 3/4 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt

    Sift flour.

    Cut sugar into shortening; combine with flour. Dissolve yeast in warm water.

    Add soda to buttermilk.

    Add all liquids and salt to flour mixture.

    Cover and refrigerate.
