- 1 pkg. yeast
- 2 Tbsp. warm water
- 1 c. shortening
- 5 c. unsifted flour
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 1/2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in water.

2Sift all dry ingredients together. Cut shortening in 1/2 of dry ingredients.

3Pour yeast in buttermilk; add to dry ingredients.

4Roll on floured board. Freeze for later use.

5Allow biscuits to thaw and rise in a warm place for 2 or 3 hours.

6Bake at 400° for 20 minutes.
