  • 2 c. scalded milk
  • 1/2 c. melted shortening
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 yeast cakes
  • 2 c. lukewarm water
  • 5 to 6 c. flour

Directions

    Scald milk; add shortening, salt and sugar.

    While cooling, dissolve yeast cakes in lukewarm water.

    When cool, add to milk and shortening mixture.

    Use flour to make a stiff dough (try 5 to 6 cups).

    Let rise 2 hours.

    Shape into rolls or loaves.

    Rise 1 hour and bake at 425°.
