- 3 c. milk
- 2 Tbsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 3 Tbsp. shortening
- 2 yeast cakes
- 3 qt. sifted flour
Directions

1Scald milk; let cool to lukewarm.

2Break up yeast in a cup of warm water.

3Blend sugar, salt and shortening into flour.

4Add the yeast mixture to flour mixture and mix thoroughly to form a stiff dough, adding warm milk as needed.

5Knead dough thoroughly until smooth.

6Grease bowl; place dough in bowl and grease top of dough. Let rise until double in size; punch down and let rise again. Work dough into loaves or rolls and let rise again until double in size.

7Bake at 375° for 60 minutes for loaves and 30 minutes for rolls.
